Southwest Missouri has been deluged the past few days.
What does this have to do with quilting? I store my quilts in a large plastic trash barrel in the basement until I have enough to take to the place I donate them. The basement flooded, and the trash barrel floated, tipping over in the water, and my quilts are soaked! (This is not to mention all the other floating totes that now have to be cleaned out as well). YUK!
We are blessed, however, not to have sustained damage--many aren't so lucky.
I'll be washing and drying things this week--probably all week long!
Edited to add: Washer, dryer, and hot water heater out of commission, so coin laundry is the next step. YUK!

Rainbow Scrap Challenge--April--Multicolor--Part 2
I'm putting together the multicolor blocks. You can read about them HERE.
There are lots of places to match, but I am making progress. I'm calling this one "Stringing Beads." It reminds me of the beaded curtains that people hang in doorways.
I'll finish assembling the center of the top, then wait until it tells me what type of borders it needs.

Rainbow Scrap Challenge--April--Multicolor
April's rainbow scrap challenge is to use multicolored scraps.
Because I've been sticking to one color during previous months, and I am planning to use the blocks in a rainbow-type quilt, I decided to do the multicolor blocks for a separate project.
I'd been designing a block in my head, so I tried it out. I plotted it on EQ7 and then started sewing. While there are lots of multicolor strings in the blocks, I used a constant dark red for the centers, and I added some strings in solids and blenders to tame the confusion!
I have well over a hundred of these made already, so I'll soon be setting them together into a top.

Friendship Strings
This quilt is the result of a failed experiment.
You can read about it HERE.
The lesson here is not to give up, but to think of new ways to use what you already have. I am happy with the final design.
This was a long time in the making, but YAY! for the finish.

Crazy Eyeballs
I finished my latest mystery quilt. I don't know the name of the block, but I call the quilt Crazy Eyeballs because of the print fabric.
Previous post about this quilt can be found HERE and HERE
My thanks to paintmejudy on the QB for another fun mystery quilt.

Rainbow Scrap Challenge--March--Red
I'm participating in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge this year. You can find out about it at soscrappy. The March color is red.
Red is my favorite color, so I have plenty of scraps to choose from.
Here are some of my string blocks. I was just playing around with a layout here; I've no idea how it will end up! Some are full string blocks, and some are half neutral/half color.
February's Aquamarine blocks
January's Purple blocks
I look forward to this challenge each month; it gives me a chance to make string blocks--one of my favorite things to do.
