These are not sewn to one another--just lined up to show the mirror image units. |
They weren't hard to make, at least until I needed to make the second half of the units mirror images of the first--Yikes! My mind rebelled for a bit, but I got one made and used it for a visual example. Spatial imagination is not my strong point. However, I did get them done--Yay me!
I'm loving this mystery and looking forward to next week's clue. I should be on Winter Break by then (if I get all my grading done!).
I'm linking with Mystery Monday at Quiltville and Fiber Tuesday 138 at The Quilting Room with Mel.
These look awesome! I also had to make the two different halves of the units separately -- I agree, it can be confusing to switch gears!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Thanks, too, for visiting my blog.
DeleteLooking good! You must be a teacher. I teach yoga--no grades! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds wonderful! I teach writing--lots of grading.
DeleteLooks great. Enjoy your vacation...grade for an hour, sew for an hour. Pretty soon everything is done and you can sew for hours and hours. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI hear you on the directional diamonds! I'm working around it by cutting all my diamonds ahead, so I have them facing both ways. Plus, I'm using a bunch of batiks that can go either way, in case I end up with uneven counts. (I try not to count ahead - it can be too daunting!)
ReplyDeleteI'm doing stitch and flip. Batiks will be lovely, but I'm afraid I'd get even more confused!
DeleteThanks for visiting.
Lovely fabrics!
ReplyDeleteThank you--and thank you for visiting.
DeleteThey look great! Did you starch them?
ReplyDeleteI worked in pairs so it would be easier to keep count and have an even number of opposite units.
No starch this time. I was too afraid to try to work in pairs--I REALLY have a hard time with angles. :)
DeleteThanks for visiting.
My secret for making the mirror image was to cut both at the same time with wrong sides together. That way I cut the pair at the same time. Looking good!
ReplyDeleteI did stitch and flip, so my rectangles all looked the same! I really don't like working with little triangles, so I'm willing to put up with a bit of waste. Thanks for visiting.
DeleteYou're keeping up! I'm worried about the mirror image part too and will definitely be making myself a sample:)
ReplyDeleteI did all one direction, then the other. It was easier for me to keep them the same.
DeleteThanks for visiting!
I had to make sample of each direction and pin them up by my machine so I wouldn’t mess up—lol!
ReplyDeleteI have to do this with nearly every quilt I make--angles are my nemesis!
DeleteThanks for visiting my blog.
I know what you mean about the spatial imaging. My oldest daughter is a whiz at it, me not so much, I also did the one and taped it on the machine! Love your fabrics!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Thanks, too, for visiting my blog.
DeleteThanks for visiting my blog. My mind rebelled on the pressing. I had to keep validating my progress using Bonnie’s pictures. Your pieces look great.
ReplyDeleteThanks! The pressing was odd--I'm so accustomed to pressing toward the end triangles not away.
DeleteThanks for visiting.
Your diamonds look perfect! I made all of them in one direction but the second direction was harder! I'm hoping to finish up this part today. So much sewing!
ReplyDeleteThanks--the second direction IS harder!
DeleteThanks for visiting my blog.
I like the brighter corals (orange) mixed in. It's so good to see others adding colors I was afraid to pick. May have to change in some exciting color.
ReplyDeleteThanks--I must admit, I've had trouble with these. Coral is not my favorite color, so my stash is a bit thin there--I stretched the boundaries a bit, I think.
DeleteThanks for visiting.
Awesome units! I kept having mini-panics about getting these the correct direction!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I know the feeling. :/
