I made this quilt once before with a travel theme. This time I used florals and a range of solid colors. It was another quilt that requires careful planning and organization, but it was fun to make!

I used a cheater fabric for the back to continue the floral idea, then I added a striped binding to finish. It is brighter than it looks in the photo--I took the photo on a cloudy day.

Final Two Leaders and Ender Quilts

These are my last two Two-Rail Fence leader and ender quilts for my year-long project. I have enjoyed making and donating these. I've experimented with colors, fabrics, layouts, and quilting methods. And after making 11 of these, I'm done! 😅

Next year's leader and ender project for me will be simple 3.5" square patchwork. I'll also check out Bonnie Hunter's L&E project (Here's the link to Jewel Box Stars, the new L&E project from Bonnie Hunter), but I have a large number of 3.5" squares in stash, and I'd like to use them. I plan to start with four-patches--we'll see what comes after that!

Birds and Fruit

I wanted to make a quilt for a friend, and I decided to use some panels I bought quite a long time ago with her in mind.


I rarely use panels, so I worked up a quick layout by measuring them and constructing alternate blocks in the same size.

The dark rectangles represent the panels.

The construction was easy, and soon I had a top.

Luckily, I bought some fabric to match the panels when I originally got them--it was perfect for the centers of the alternate blocks, the backing, and the binding.

After quilting, I gave it a wash, and now it is ready to go!

I think the panels look good surrounded by the very simple alternate blocks--I didn't want it to be too busy.

I enjoyed making this--it can be fun to design around a special fabric you want to use.

Yikes!

I did it again! 

Into my very small sewing area comes another bundle of fabrics. I did this once before with a bundle of tone-on-tones. I've been using them steadily and have enjoyed having plenty to work with.  This time, the fabrics are solids.

Seventeen 6-yard cuts of different colors

I get email from Sharon Thomas at Marshall Dry Goods Wholesale often, but since I'm only one quilter, I can't always use the huge quantities meant for fabric sellers. This bundle, however, is something I can use. Best of all, it is great quality 100% cotton and only cost me (with shipping figured in) $.93/yard!

I'd better get to work using it!
